Quest: How Do I Know I’m Saved?

Sermon Notes

Why Do I Need to Be Saved?

for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God… Romans 3:23

For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life. For God did not send the Son into the world to judge the world, but that the world might be saved through Him. John 3:16-17

As for you, you were dead in your transgressions and sins… Ephesians 2:1

…in which you used to live when you followed the ways of this world and of the ruler of the kingdom of the air, the spirit who is now at work in those who are disobedient. All of us also lived among them at one time, gratifying the cravings of our flesh and following its desires and thoughts. Like the rest, we were by nature deserving of wrath. Ephesians 2:2-3

But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions—it is by grace you have been saved. And God raised us up with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus, in order that in the coming ages he might show the incomparable riches of his grace, expressed in his kindness to us in Christ Jesus. Ephesians 2:4-7

For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God—not by works, so that no one can boast. Ephesians 2:8-9

For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God… Ephesians 2:8

PISTUS – conviction acted out in trust

And you also were included in Christ when you heard the message of truth, the gospel of your salvation. When you believed, you were marked in him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit, who is a deposit guaranteeing our inheritance until the redemption of those who are God’s possession—to the praise of his glory. Ephesians 1:13-14

For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do. Ephesians 2:10

Responding to the Gospel:

You have a broken heart for your sin and you recognize you cannot save yourself.

You believe that Jesus lived the perfect life that you could not live and died the death that you deserved for the payment of your sins.

You repent, which means to have a change of heart and mind towards your sin and turn towards the ways of Jesus.

You surrender your life to Jesus! As a sign of this surrender you are baptized symbolizing a death to your old life and a rebirth into a new life of following Jesus.

You receive the gift of the Holy Spirit, allowing the Spirit of Truth to guide you into all truth as you follow the ways of Jesus.
